The Town That Can't Say No
Acton continues to spend money on wasteful projects, including old "historical" buildings that serve no useful purpose and cost millions to keep up. Where does it end?
Back when I was on the Finance Committee, we discussed a strange building that was owned by the town, was in total disrepair, and was going to become the latest money-pit. I believe we spent some money to preserve the building and delay the tough decision for another day. Now this boondoggle appears to be rearing its ugly head again.
Called the "Asa Parlin" house, this is the house in disrepair that sits in the parking lot behind Town Hall.
The building should be torn down. But no old structure is ever too far gone for our municipal properties department, our Historical Commission, or our Historic District Commission, so the town is sponsoring a "what should we do about this building?" at Town Hall on June 13th at 7:30 pm.
