The Concord Orchestra presents “Dancing in Disguise” at 8:00pm on Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18 at 2:30pm at the Performing Arts Center at 51 Walden. The orchestra, conducted by Music Director Zeke Fetrow, performs music by Anna Clyne, Garbriel Fauré, and Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Clyne’s short composition, Masquerade (2013), was inspired by pleasure gardens in London in the 18th century, where people gathered in the summer to experience masquerade balls, fireworks, and performances of music, dance, acrobatics, and theater.
The four movements of Fauré’s Pelléas et Mélisande Suite were selected from incidental music he composed for a play. The Sicilienne movement is one of Fauré’s most easily recognized and best-loved works.
Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 3 “Polish” gets its nickname from the polonaise rhythm in its finale. It was written slightly before Swan Lake, and contains some similar musical themes and delightful dance rhythms.
Two of the acts of famous choreographer George Balanchine’s Jewels (1967), a ballet in three acts with each act representing a gemstone, are set to music from Pelléas and Mélisande
(Emeralds) and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 3 (Diamonds).
Tickets for adults and seniors are $25. Admission for youth under 18 is free. For tickets and information, call 978-369-4967 or visit concordorchestra.com.

First Parish of Sudbury

Join us for True to Your Heart with Resident Minister Aiden McMahon. It is good to be reminded where we come from. Universalism is not some chic claim meant to be inoffensively warm and fuzzy, but rather a radical theological conviction. In this season of storytelling, let us look back into our past and see what it might have to say to our present. Please join us in-person or online.
First Parish of Sudbury, located at 327 Concord Road, Sudbury, is a diverse and welcoming community of spiritual seekers who strive to learn together and support one another as they celebrate life’s important moments and serve the larger community. October Book Circle: Called to Question by Joan ChittisterWednesday, October 28th, 7:00 pm, Olmsted Parlor

What if faith grows through the questions we dare to ask, rather than the answers we have been handed? In Called to Question, Sister Joan Chittister, a Benedictine nun, writer, and lifelong advocate for justice, opens her private journal to us. She draws on conversations with spiritual writers across the centuries and wrestles honestly with God, doubt, justice, the role of women in church and society, care for creation, and the holiness of ordinary days.
This spiritual memoir reads like a companion rather than a lecture. Its short chapters invite us to name our own questions and to follow them with courage, even when we are unsure where they will lead.
All are welcome, whether you have read every page, a single chapter, or simply want to join the conversation. Called to Question is available in paperback and as an e-book through most booksellers, and our local independent bookstore will gladly order it for you. A few copies are also available to borrow from the church office. The Minuteman Library Network has a single copy, so if you hope to borrow from the library, you may wish to request it through interlibrary loan and allow extra time. If you finish early, please consider passing your copy along to another reader, and let us know if you have one to share.
Please do not let an unfinished book keep you away. Discussion questions are linked to this article. You are welcome to print them or keep them nearby as you read. Questions? Contact Rev. Karen at karen@actonc.org. Bring your questions and come as you are.
Please RSVP if you plan on attending: Sign Up Here.

If the starting point of your next art piece or DIY project feels unclear, this practical workshop will help you pause, align, and move forward with intention. By the end of our time together, you’ll have a repeatable process for starting any creative project.
You’ll leave with the know-how to:

Specify your Why

Refine your Inspiration

Demystify Color by learning how to build a new palette that’s meaningful to you.

About Nan Krueger, Groovyhome:

I’ve always been naturally intuitive and highly sensitive to my surroundings and other people’s energy. These qualities let me step into my clients’ shoes and appreciate exactly how they experience their homes and why they need to make changes. When my parents decided to redesign my childhood bedroom, they let me choose the colors, wallpapers and fabrics for the new space. Little did I know, that was my first decorating project, and it helped spark my life-long passion for interior design. I believe that a home should be so aligned with its people that it looks like they designed it themselves. Ultimately, the designer fades away and the client emerges clearly, living in harmony with their home. That’s my dream and my goal for every client.

128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric Stays Independent

128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric

128 Announces Local Independent Ownership For Good One question that Ryan Williams, President of 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, and Electric, keeps getting is: “Did you sell?” and the answer is always In recent years, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other home services have seen significant consolidation. In Greater Boston, 128 is one of the only home service companies that remain local, private, and independently-owned. This led Williams to seek out organizations that aren't just in business to sell, but to thrive long-term. He found the Tugboat Institute®, focusing on value, purpose, and people-driven businesses planning to remain independently-owned for 100+ years through their Certified Evergreen® status. 128 applied with the help of its entire team and received the honor of becoming Certified Evergreen® a year later. Watch 128's announcement here: https://youtu.be/g5rsiZW7B1k?si=KeR42U8H9GXnCJkH Does this impact customers? Customers want reliability and support for years down the road from their home service company, and choosing an independently-owned company can reduce uncertainties. Does this impact tradespeople? Ownership can influence company culture, communication, alignment, and priorities. With a labor shortage, it's important there are industry leaders willing to continually invest in education, which 128 is proud to offer its own school. Choose Local and Independent. 128 is proud to announce its continued local and independent ownership to bring stability and confidence to employees, customers, and communities for generations. Williams states that "128 answers to its customers and employees, not investors", and is not for sale. 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, and Electric was founded in 1992 and is a top home service company in Eastern MA. 128 is known for its 5-star service, base+ membership, Finish Strong Friday®, and its Red Sox partnership.
