Worship with Us! Fifth Sunday of Easter

This Sunday’s sermon begins with a feeling most of us recognize—the longing to belong. It recalls those moments when we wonder if we’re too late, too much, or somehow on the outside. Set at the Last Supper, it meets us in a time when even Jesus and his friends felt unsettled and unsure. Into that uncertainty comes a question many carry quietly: Is there a place for me?

Instead of offering a complicated answer, the message turns to a simple, powerful promise. When Jesus says, “I am the way,” it’s not about rules or barriers—it’s about relationship. He is the one who goes ahead to make room. The image at the heart of the sermon is of a God who is always preparing a place, where there is no shortage of welcome—no “no vacancy” signs, just an open door.

From there, the invitation becomes ours to share. In a world where people often feel they don’t quite fit, we are called to be place-makers too—creating spaces of honesty, warmth, and belonging. The question we carry with us is this: Who might need a place today?
