Join us for this multi-week course and take your Zentangle® Method skills to the next level! In this class, students will explore new tangles, tangleations and enhancers, focusing on intentionally applying pen to paper and developing their own personal tangle drawing, shading and design styles. Small assignments in between class sessions will help students who seek to increase focus and flow on their own and in non-classroom environments. Through guided instruction, gentle coaching, and independent exploration, students will create their own small works of Zentangle-inspired art in a peaceful, mindful, non-judgmental environment.

ArtSpace: Zentangle Art: Next Steps (An Intermediate Level Course)

Wednesday, October 7, 6-8PM
Slow down and reconnect with your hands in this calming, creative workshop focused on mindful hand stitching. Using a curated selection of fabrics, you’ll design and create your own personal textile art piece (approximately 5×7 or 6×6), guided by simple yet beautiful stitching techniques inspired by traditions like Sashiko from Japan and Kantha from India.
This workshop is not about perfection—it’s about process. As you stitch, you’ll begin to notice a natural rhythm emerge, helping you relax, focus, and enjoy the act of making. Along the way, you’ll learn how to combine fabrics, layer textures, and use hand stitching both as decoration and as a form of repair and storytelling.
Your finished piece can be framed as textile art, incorporated into a larger project, or simply treasured as a reminder of time spent creating something by hand.
No prior sewing experience is needed, and all materials will be provided.
Disclaimer: once you learn this method, it can be highly addictive.
About the Instructor:
I’m Deepika Prakash, a lifelong maker, educator, and the founder of PatternReview.com, a global sewing community with over half a million members worldwide. For more than two decades, my work has centered on sharing knowledge, fostering connection, and creating welcoming spaces for people to learn and grow through making.
Tuition: $40 Members, $44 Non-Members
Please contact the Program Manager at sarah@artspacema.org for any accommodations or to inquire about tuition assistance.

First Parish of Sudbury

Join us for Why We Tell Stories with Resident Minister Aiden McMahon. We have always been storytellers. Truth-seeking and meaning-making are central to what it means to be human, and religion has long sought to provide THE human story. In our pluralistic world, and in a pluralistic faith, can we have a single story? Does that matter? Or is it in the seeking that something like Truth can be found? Please join us in-person or online.

First Parish of Sudbury, located at 327 Concord Road, Sudbury, is a diverse and welcoming community of spiritual seekers who strive to learn together and support one another as they celebrate life’s important moments and serve the larger community. The First Parish was founded in 1640. The congregation worships in the historic meetinghouse that was built in 1797.
