Commonwealth's Largest Virtual Public School Open for Second Semester Enrollment

TEC Connections Academy (TECCA) now accepting new students for tuition-free virtual public school

TEC Connections Academy Commonwealth Virtual School (TECCA), the state’s newest and largest full-time, tuition-free online public school for K-12 students, is now enrolling students for the second semester of the 2015-2016 school year.

TECCA, currently in its second year educating Massachusetts students through its online school, has several upcoming information sessions set for parents to learn more about the online option. Interested families are encouraged to look into how virtual school works and if it’s the right fit for their students by attending an Online Info Session, or by connecting directly with TECCA.

“Our students continue to find success here at TECCA,” remarked Principal Adam Goldberg. “If students are looking for a high quality alternative to brick-and-mortar school, TECCA offers a supportive and flexible learning environment. We also have a number of social events planned for the second semester that enhance our online curriculum.”

Success of the new virtual school is apparent in the school’s first survey of TECCA parents, which was completed by an independent third party. Ninety percent of parents surveyed indicate they would recommend the online school to other families, and 76 percent say they are more satisfied with TECCA than their previous school. Nearly 80 percent of parents gave TECCA an “A” or “B” grade, whereas public school ratings from the 46th Annual Phi Delta Kappa/Gallup Poll of the Public’s Attitudes Toward the Public Schools shows that traditional public schools received 67 percent “A” or “B” grades from parents. Parent satisfaction with TECCA’s teachers and curriculum ranges from 85 to 90 percent, with 87 percent of parents agreeing that the use of technology improves the learning experience.

During open application periods, interested families can complete an online registration form and enroll in the virtual school. TEC Connections Academy can enroll up to 1,500 students for the 2015-16 school year. The open enrollment periods run until March 1, 2016.
