Commuter Rail Train Strikes Vehicle in Acton; Woman Seriously Hurt

Authorities said the railroad gates were down and working properly at the time of the crash.

A woman was seriously hurt Monday night after she drove into the path of a commuter rail train in Acton, authorities said.

The crash happened at about 7:45 p.m. on Route 111.

MBTA Transit Police said the railroad gates were down and working properly at the time of the crash.

The 63-year-old woman from Stow was driving a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander. Authorities said her injuries were not life-threatening. NECN categorized her injuries as “serious.” Her name was not released.

Her vehicle sustained major damage.

There were about 25 passengers on the train at the time of the crash. None of them were hurt. Police said the train was traveling inbound to Boston.
