Cogmotion: Supporting the Cognition-Emotion Link in Children’s Learning with Dr. Christopher Thurber

The League of Women Voters—Acton Area is proud to present the Jen Haan Memorial Speaker Series on Contemporary Issues, 2011.

Cogmotion: Supporting the Cognition-Emotion Link in Children’s Learning with Dr. Christopher Thurber takes place at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Acton Memorial Library. Our thoughts and feelings are intimately connected. The better we, as parents, understand the cognition-emotion link, the better able we are to promote our children’s learning and development. This intriguing and informal workshop will begin with a discussion of functional brain anatomy, then move to discussions of motivation, learning, and emotion-regulation. By gaining a better understanding of how thoughts and feelings influence one another, participants will learn practical ways to support their children’s growth, both intellectually and socially. Dr. Christopher Thurber is a board-certified clinical psychologist, educator, author, and father. Chris created ExpertOnlineTraining.com, the Internet’s most popular and respected educational resource for youth development professionals.
