"Sylvia" by A.R. Gurney at Acme Theater

Acme Theater’s production of A.R. Gurney's touching romantic comedy Sylvia is for anyone who has ever owned a dog, loved a dog, or wanted to wring a dog’s (or a spouse's) neck. Running weekends from March 2 to 24, Sylvia tells the story of Greg and Kate, and a stray pooch named Sylvia that uptight, middle-aged Greg abruptly brings into their empty nest NY apartment. Sparks fly and an odd love triangle develops into a humorous, but very real, struggle for power. This sweet, loony play explores the magical interaction that takes place between both man and wife, and humans and canines.

Directed by Waltham resident, Russell Greene, the show features local talent Nancy Gahagan (Lexington), Richard Concannon (Maynard), Kathy Lague (Sudbury), and Edmund Golaski (Cambridge). Performances run from March 2 to 24, 2012, at Acme Theater on 61 Summer Street in Maynard, Mass. (within the ArtSpace community art center). Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8:00 p.m. and the Sunday, March 18, matinee is at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $17 general admission and $15 for students/seniors. For reservations, call 978-823-0003 or visit www.acmetheater.com/boxoffice.asp
