1 Severely Burned In Acton Manufacturing Company Fire

Five others were sent to the hospital in the Wednesday morning fire.

ACTON, MA — A fire at a manufacturing company severely burned a man and sent five others to the hospital with probable smoke inhalation Wednesday morning, police said. The Haartz Corporation confirmed the fire broke out at its Acton headquarters on Hayward Road.

The man who was severely burned suffered injuries to his hands and back. His identity has not been released.

The fire started in a first-floor machine and spread to the second floor. Firefighters from Acton, Maynard, and Boxboro extinguished the flames with help from the building's extinguishing system. The cost and extent of damage is unknown.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

"Safety is our first priority and we will continue to provide updates as we know more," Haartz said.
