Fire Friday Displaces Acton Residents

A fire Friday night at Harvard Court displaces four Acton families.

A fire occurred Friday evening, June 15, at 5 Harvard Court, Acton, a four-family unit. According to Kat Powers, director of communications for the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts, there were four families affected by the fire. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

  • One family was out of the state during the time of fire and as of Sunday night they have not been back.
  • One family declined assistance from Red Cross. "They had some place to go and they were okay, as okay as you can be when you've been at the scene of a fire," said powers.
  • One family, a mother and two children - the Red Cross provided them with emergency funding for clothing.
  • One woman received emergency funding for food and shelter (she was provided with funding for a nearby hotel to stay in for the time being).
