First Parish Church of Stow & Acton will present the video "Diet and Health: A Progress Report," by Walter Willett, M.D., on April 29.

First Parish Church of Stow & Acton will present the hour-long video “Diet and Health: A Progress Report,” by Walter Willett, M.D., on Wednesday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m., in its Community Room.

The presentation was recorded in 2012. Dr. Willett discusses the science of good fats and bad fats, and good carbs and bad carbs. He presents Harvard’s Healthy Eating Plate and Pyramid, which provides easy to understand dietary recommendations.

After the presentation one of Dr. Willett’s graduate students will be available via Skype to answer your questions about the presentation and nutrition in general.

Dr. Willett, referred to by Boston Globe Magazine as “the world’s most influential nutritionist,” is chair of the Department of Nutrition at Harvard University and the Fredrick John Stare Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition. He’s the author of “Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy: The Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating,” and he’s a principal investigator on the Nurses’ Health Study, one of the largest long-term studies examining the effects of diet on health.

All are welcome to this free event. FPC is located at 353 Great Road in Stow, on the common at the intersection of routes 62 and 117.
