Five Things to Know Today: June 19 [New Fire Chief]

Five things to know about Acton's new fire chief.

1. Patrick J. Futtere, 52, is Acton's new fire chief and he had a brief ceremony during last night's Board of Selectmen meeting.

2. Futtere succeeds Chief Robert Craig, who served Acton for 43-years and 22-years as Chief.

3. Futtere served as Captain on the Joliet Fire Department in IL, population 150,000 and worked his way up the ladder for 22 years.

4. Town Manager Ledoux (posted on his blog): "I was deeply impressed with Patrick throughout the hiring process. He tested well during the Assessment Center, which provided simulation exercises for six semi finalist candidates. Patrick scored at the top of the list. Upon further interviews and a background check, he further proved to me that he will be an exemplary Chief who possesses great skills to move the Town’s Fire Department forward.”

5. Futtere's starting salary is $114,509.
