The Acton-Boxborough Cultural Council is continuing the Our World Film Series with a compelling film from Denmark. “After the Wedding” will screen on Friday, May 13. Gather at 7:00 pm in Room 204, Acton Town Hall, 472 Main Street. Come and enjoy the twists and turns of this surprising story.
“After the Wedding” is a 2006 Danish drama by acclaimed director Susanne Bier, starring accomplished Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen. The film, rated R, has been a critical and popular success and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Far from home, a Danish man runs a struggling orphanage in one of India’s poorest regions. Desperate to save the orphanage from closure, he returns to Denmark to meet a wealthy businessman and potential benefactor. What appears to be nothing more than a friendly gesture to attend a wedding sets in motion an increasingly devastating series of surprises that will forever change lives.
