Great-Grandfather Wins $100K Playing Red Sox Numbers

Those World Series champions just keep on giving.

TEMPLETON, MA — These Sox just can't be stopped.

A Templeton man won a $100,000 in the lottery's Mass Cash game by playing the numbers worn by five key players in Boston's World Series championship run. Jim Aylward Jr. played 11-16-19-22-25 to win the Nov. 5 drawing.

Those numbers are worn by Rafael Devers, Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley Jr., Rick Porcello, and World Series MVP Steve Pearce.

Aylward, who has nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, claimed his prize Wednesday at the lottery's Braintree headquarters. He purchased his winner at Cumberland Farms in East Templeton.
