Hunger and Social Isolation Do Not Take a Summer Vacation

Mt. Calvary Community Supper Reaches Out to You to Help Our Neighbors in Need

During the summer months the continued need for a free nutritious meal and relief from social isolation can be overwhelming. While individuals and families take wonderful summer vacations, there are many neighbors who are not so fortunate. They rely on a healthy meal and the friendship of others to help them through each week. Mt. Calvary Community Supper, the only community supper in Acton, remains in full service every Wednesday, 52 weeks of the year, to fulfill the needs of all who join us. Totally staffed by volunteers, the meal typically consists of rolls, fresh fruit, fresh salad, vegetables, potatoes or pasta, entrée, dessert and beverages. Serving approximately 90 dinners each week, our goal is to ensure that our neighbors in need receive sustenance and a sense of belonging.

Since being reestablished in April of 2012, over 21,000 meals have been served to our neighbors in need. Each Wednesday, between 5pm and 6 pm, families with children, singles, groups of friends and seniors all sit down to enjoy a meal in the light, airy hall of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church at 472 Mass Avenue in Acton. Each week tables are set with fresh flowers to provide a welcoming atmosphere. On special holidays and occasions, the dining room is decorated so that all guests are included in the celebration.

As a non-profit organization, Mt Calvary Community Supper is grateful for sponsorship from charities, religious groups, scouts, students and local businesses. As our number of guests grows, Mt. Calvary Community Supper is also seeking your support. We would sincerely appreciate you, individually or with a group of friends, donating a unique gift of love and joining Mt. Calvary Community Supper in the fight to alleviate hunger and social isolation to those in need locally. $25 will provide ten guests a hot dinner. An entire night’s supper for all who come can be provided for $250.
