An eighth-grade student's condition is improving at MGH after she was struck by a school van last week.

ACTON, MA – An eighth-grade student is recovering at Massachusetts General Hospital after she was struck by a special education van in Acton Friday. Police said Tuesday that the teen's condition is "stable and improving."
The crash happened around 7:20 a.m. on Friday at the intersection of Main Street and Hayward Road. The victim, a 14-year-old student at RJ Grey Middle School, was crossing Main Street in the crosswalk when she was struck by a van traveling south, Acton Police Chief Richard Burrows said. She was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.
The 2014 Ford Econoline van was a Westford Public Schools vehicle. Police identified the driver Tuesday as a 50-year-old Littleton woman. Reports say she was "hysterical" at the scene of Friday's collision.
