Judge Grants Acton Woman Protective Order After Assault

A Massachusetts Avenue woman reported to the Acton Police Department she was assaulted and threatened by her neighbor on Oct. 12.

An on-call judge was notified of the situation and he granted the woman a 209A order.

A 209A protective order is a court order that protects residents from being abused by a member or former member of your household or family or someone you have been dating. It is called a 209A protective order because the law that created it is Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 209A.

Acton police say the order was not served to the defendant.

In other police news from Oct. 11:

• A Brown Bear Crossing resident reported vehicles driving by with people yelling the reporting party's name out loud.
• A Main Street resident reported damaged done to his property by NSTAR.
• A Massachusetts Avenue resident called Acton Medical and asked for an officer to walk her out to her car for fear of a neighbor. She said she would call back when she was ready to leave. About 2 1/2 hours later there was no callback and she never showed up to court. An officer responded for a well-being check, but there was no answer. The resident was ultimately found at home and fine, but was still not ready to go.
• A Central Street resident reported a bullet hole in a window.
• A Powdermill Road resident reported receiving harassing text messages. Texts were over a civil matter. Resident was advised to call if the problem continues.
• Officers responded to Tupelo Way for a report of two incidents of suspicious activity. Two males were smoking and a woman was running in the conservation after dark. When officers arrived, the males were gone. The woman running called and was upset about the men yelling at her.
