LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Re-Elect Dennis Bruce - Acton Public School Committee

Letter emailed by Elizabeth Krol.

We have an opportunity to vote tomorrow, Tuesday, March 27th, for Acton School Committee. Three candidates are vying for two open positions. Please consider re-electing Dennis Bruce. I have been fortunate to work with Dennis through the Gates PTO, where he managed our Auction and overall PTO budgets as Treasurer, and sought savings to help us to do more to support our students with the resources that we had available. I appreciate his solid finance background and value the operational efficiency that Dennis can bring to School Committee.   Please see an introductory message from Bruce below and please consider him when you vote:

Next week, voters will go to the polls and choose 2 people to serve on the Acton Public School Committee.  I'm writing to let you know that I am running for re-election. The Acton Public School system is our towns biggest asset and we need people on the committee that are dedicated to its' success. This past year, serving on the Committee has given me great insight into not only how our schools operate but the ongoing challenges we face (i.e. proper funding, OPEB, regionalization, etc...).

Since graduating college, I've worked as a CPA for a Big 6 Accounting Firm and in various sales & marketing roles for Software & Technology Companies. Personally, I've spent 2 years serving on the board for the Gates PTO and coached many youth sports teams in Acton.  These experiences, as well as my four years in the United States Coast Guard, provide me a unique perspective when deciding on complex matters under consideration by the committee. With two children currently in elementary school, I am thoroughly committed to the ongoing, long-term success of our town's wonderful school system.
