LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Support Katie Green for Selectman

Resident Mary Ann Ashton asks other residents to vote for Green.

I have had the pleasure of working with Katie Green in her volunteer activities with the League of Women Voters for the last several years. She has proven herself to be a quick learner, who shows an ability to both grasp the big picture and follow through on the details. On March 26, I will be voting for Katie for Acton’s Board of Selectmen.

In her work as a legislative aide for four years, she has developed an understanding of the issues facing towns like Acton. She knows how the state legislative process works and understands the challenges that we face at the local level. Striving for efficiencies and continued constraints on finances will require all of us to think about how we can share municipal services with other towns, and Katie’s experience in working with the leaders of neighboring towns will be an asset in exploring potential partnerships. She values the educational excellence that our school district embodies, and understands the foundation that our public schools provide for today’s students.

What I like best about Katie is her enthusiasm and commitment to the challenge. She has embraced our town, becoming involved in a variety of issues and constantly demonstrating an interest in meeting with people from a variety of perspectives and communicating her own thoughts. Take the time to get to know her by checking out her website (http://katiegreenforacton.com), like her on Facebook, or send her an email atkatieforacton@gmail.com.
