Loud Booms Heard Yesterday in Acton-Boxborough
Did you hear several loud explosions yesterday morning?

According to the Boxborough Police Department, the loud explosions that were heard throughout various parts of the Acton-Boxborough area yesterday morning around noon came from Fort Devens, Lancaster, MA.
"What happens is when it is a day with low cloud cover the loud exploding sounds transfer further than normal," said Sandy Burson, Assistant to Commander at Fort Devens. "It comes from our firing range and they are out their on daily basis and we are strictly a training base where we are the next to the last stop before the troops mobilize to go overseas."
According to Burson, the Range Control Officer sends an email to surrounding town officials, warning them if the training exercises are going to be a little louder than normal.
