Mass. Education System Best in U.S., Report Claims

Massachusetts is the best state in the country when it comes to education, according to national study.

The Education Week Research Center ranked the Bay State No. 1 in its annual Quality Counts report.

The results were based on factors like high school graduation rates, postsecondary employment, and annual income.

Massachusetts' success can be attributed to a "bipartisan commitment to education reform," according to Reid Wilson of the Washington Post. He pointed to the state's 1993 school reform bill.

Education Week's report gave Massachusetts an "A-" and a score of 91.4. Here are the top five states:
