Maynard Firefighter Faces Child Rape Charges

MAYNARD, MA—Maynard Police arrested a Maynard Firefighter at his home Thursday who is being charged with the rape of a child.

According to a Maynard statement Thursday, authorities have charged James Andrew MacGillivary, 59, of Maynard with rape of a child with force stemming from an alleged incident in 1991. MacGillivary was placed on leave on Feb. 5 after allegations first surfaced.

“This is a deeply disturbing case involving serious allegations,” Maynard Police Chief Dubois said in a statement. “Our detectives conducted a thorough investigation, working with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, to determine the appropriate course of action.”

MacGillivary was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Middlesex Superior Court.
