MCAS Testing Delayed for Acton Public Schools

Inclement weather has caused delays in testing.

Since much of Massachusetts is expecting a winter storm today, and with it the possibility of numerous school closings or delayed openings, the MCAS English Language Arts Composition test for students in grades 4, 7 and 10 has been postponed until Monday, March 25, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education announced on its website.

Acton Public Schools confirmed yesterday it is delaying its testing.

"We realize that this change may be disruptive for some schools, but for security reasons it is critical that all schools administer the ELA Composition on the same day. Even schools that are unaffected by the storm must wait until Monday, March 25, to administer the test," the DESE wrote on its website.

If there is school today, any ELA Reading Comprehension test sessions that are scheduled may be administered, just not the ELA Composition test.

Channel 7 predicts the Acton area could receive between 4 and 8 inches of snow from this storm before it changes over to sleet and then rain sometime around the Tuesday morning commute.
