Merriam Students Skype with El Salvadorian Pen-Pals
Thursday, June 16, children from Leah Richardson's third-grade class at the Merriam School electronically interacted with thier pen-pals from the Caserio Helen School in Ilobasco, El Salvador.
Leah Richardson’s third-grade class at the Merriam School and Juan Carlos Pena’s fourth-grade class at the , have been electronic pen-pals for quite sometime.
Last Thursday, some of Richardson’s students and their parents came together at to Skype with Juan Carlos Pena’s fourth-grade class.
“The educational and cultural exchange between students at the Merriam School in Acton and the Caserio Helen School in Ilobasco, El Salvador was developed by The Discovery Museums and The Tin Marin Children’s Museum, and supported by the Museums & Community Collaborations Abroad (MCCA) program,” according to a press release from the Children’s Discovery Museum. “MCCA is a program of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in cooperation with the American Association of Museums designed to foster a connection between museums and communities within the U.S. and abroad.”
