Middlesex Community College welcomes and supports students of all ages and experiences in their lives. A proud supporter of veteran and military-connected students, Middlesex strives to guide this population of students through their transition to college-life and set them up for long-term success.
For the college’s dedication to veteran and military-connected student success, MCC was named one of the 2021 Best for Vets: Colleges by the Military Times. Middlesex ranked number one in the Northeast for public, general education two-year schools, and number 16 in the country for two-year schools overall.

“The ranking provides a measure of an institution’s commitment to veteran and military-connected students,” said Jessica Frost Director of the Veterans Resource Center (VRC). “Middlesex is honored to be included in the rankings for 2021, as well as to assist students through the VRC with VA educational benefits, college and community resources, and academic and career exploration.”
The Military Times’ ranking provides veteran and military-connected students with information on a college’s type of institution, region, accreditation status and overall percentage rating based on survey results, according to Frost.
MCC supports veterans and their families through the VRC, a Veterans Advisory Board, and other special veteran services. The college also partners with the School Certifying Officials, Student Accounts and other student support areas to serve veteran and military-connected – National Guard and Reservists, active military and spouse/dependents of veterans – students, according to Frost.
Students can go to the centers with questions and concerns, to socialize with their classmates, study and meet with staff from the Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership (VITAL) program. Veteran and military-connected students can also attend Veterans Day events, Veterans Club and workshops on organizational skills, financial literacy and wellness.
The VRC centers are located on both the Bedford Campus Center in Room 206 and the Lowell Cowan Center Ground Floor. For students who would like to meet online, the VRC also holds virtual appointments.
In the Academic Centers for Enrichment (ACE) peer tutors are trained by the VRC on how to best work with veteran and military-connected students. To further help in their transition to college, MCC’s VRC also hosts Green Zone trainings for faculty and staff to teach them about military culture and how to support students.
