Minute Man Air Field Awarded $850K Grant for Repairs, Reconstruction

The state funding is part of a larger project to improve the airport's infrastructure and resurface the runway.

STOW, MA – Minute Man Air Field has been awarded an $850,000 grant by the state to fund a portion of a project to improve the airport's infrastructure. The funding will be put toward an approximately $1.06 million endeavor to repair a section of the parallel taxiway, south ramp and refueling ramp at the airfield.

Minute Man houses more than 75 aircraft, including three helicopters, and several local businesses. According to the Massachusetts Statewide Airport Economic Impact Study, the airfield employs close to 150 people in nearby communities and generates more than $12 million annually.

"Minute Man Air Field is an economic engine here in Stow and a premier destination for aviation in this region," Rep. Kate Hogan said in a statement. "The funding provided through these grants will enable Don McPherson and his staff to make important taxiway and infrastructure improvements to the airport—maintaining their commitment to our local pilots and aviation community. I thank Administrator DeCarlo and the entire Aeronautics Division at MassDOT for making our airport a priority."
