More Bars, Restaurants Likely for Acton After Key Vote
Voters approved 16 more full liquor licenses.
More bars and restaurants are likely coming to Acton after voters on Tuesday approved an increase in liquor licenses.
During a special town meeting, voters signed off on an additional 16 full liquor licenses and six wine/malt beverage licenses. Town officials said the measure should lead to new restaurants.
“For many years, economic development in Acton has been hampered by the relatively low number of liquor licenses,” town officials said in a statement. ”For many years during public planning forums, Acton residents have voiced their desire for more restaurants in town ... additional liquor licenses (should) attract and award suitable restaurants with a license that, in most cases, is a key to the restaurants’ economic success.”
