Poetry of Joy & Gratitude Service at FPC on April 24
First Parish Church's own jazz band presents a special service dedicated to the poetry of Mary Oliver and others on April 24.
“I don't know exactly what a prayer is. I do know how to pay attention. . . .” So wrote Mary Oliver in her wonderful poem, “The Summer Day.” Two special jazz services dedicated to the poetry of Oliver, Rumi and others will take place at First Parish Church of Stow & Acton (FPC), Unitarian Universalist, on Sunday, April 24, at 9 and 11 a.m.
Come celebrate Spring and the coming May flowers with this Worship Service dedicated to poetry, with all the morning’s music provided by the Parish Jazz Band, FPC's own jazz band. Parishioners will read selected poems interspersed with carefully chosen inspirational numbers from the Parish Jazz Band’s extensive repertoire. Whatever your theological leanings (and no matter where you stand on prayer!) you are invited to join us in this beautiful service about finding your way in this world, joyfully and gratefully.
FPC’s wheelchair-accessible facilities are located at 353 Great Rd. in Stow, next to the Randall Library. Child care is provided for children 3 and under and older children are welcome to join religious education classes. For more information, call 978-897-8149 or visit www.fpc-stow-acton.org.
