High-Speed Chase Comes To Crashing End In Acton: Police

Four were arrested after allegedly shoplifting from a Groton supermarket and throwing bottles at a police cruiser before leading a chase.

ACTON, MA — A high-speed police chase that spanned several towns before coming to a crashing end in Acton resulted in four arrested Tuesday.

Little Police responded at 11:30 a.m. to a report of an erratic vehicle on Route 119. An officer found the vehicle, a 2017 silver Subaro Crosstek with Connecticut plates, on Great Road in front of the police station. When he attempted to stop the vehicle, the people inside allegedly started throwing beer bottles and other items out the window at the cruiser.

Police chased the vehicle down I-495 South at speeds of up to 75-80 miles per hour. It got on Route 2 West at similar speeds, exiting at Route 111 in Harvard. The car then went onto Route 2 East and got off at Taylor Street before heading into Boxborough from Route 11 and into Acton, where it crashed into another vehicle and came to a stop.

No one was reported to have been injured.

Littleton found John Hickey, 31, of Everett, in the driver's seat, along with Dylan Brunetto, 27, of Billerica, Felicia Drew, 31, of Pepperell, and Gregory Tammaro, 28, of Groton. All four are known to police.

Police said the four were involved in a shoplifting incident at a Groton supermarket earlier in the day. They were arrested and scheduled to be arraigned in Ayer District Court.

Hickey was charged with conspiracy, failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license, speeding, marked lanes violation, and failing to stop/yield at a red light.

Brunetto was charged with conspiracy and had a warrant for a prior shoplifting incident.

Drew and Tammaro were charged with conspiracy and shoplifting over $100 by concealing merchandise.
