Nashoba Regional High School in Bolton to pack meals for Rise Against
Hunger, a nonprofit humanitarian relief organization. According to Rise
Against Hunger, nearly 800 million people around the world are hungry.
The organization was founded in 1998 to answer that need and has a goal
of ending hunger by 2030.

The event was hosted by the Rotary Club of Nashoba Valley and
sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Acton-Boxborough, Clinton, Hudson,

The Rotary Clubs motto is Service Above Self and
the clubs engage on a local and international level. The Rotary clubs
funded the cost of the meals, which totaled more than $4,000, while they
also organized the event and encouraged the youth and adult community
to get involved.

Within two hours more than 150 volunteers worked together and hand
assembled and packaged 15,000 meals of rice, soy dehydrated vegetables
and a fortified flavoring mix, to help feed the world’s hungriest. For
every 1,000 meals created, a gong sounded and the volunteers of all ages
cheered in their accomplishments.
