The Rotary Club of Acton-Boxborough Supports the Scouts

Helping to fund Gold Award and Eagle Scout Project

The Rotary Club is providing funds to help support one selected Girl Scout's Gold Award project and one selected Boy Scout's Eagle Scout project from Acton and Boxborough.

This February the Rotary Club presented a check to Amiya Subramanian, a member of the Acton-Boxborough Girl Scouts, in support of her Girl Scout Gold Award project. Amiya will present a series of leadership workshops for girls interested in STEM careers, using exercises she has designed to encourage the girls to investigate and consider the scientific and technological fields for their own futures. Following the workshops,
she will update the Rotary Club on her findings.

This grant illustrates the desire of the Rotary Club of Acton-Boxborough to foster leadership skills in young people. A larger initiative will occur in June, when nearly 200 high school sophomores across Rotary District 7910 will take part in the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Award conference, a three-day conference for leadership, learning, and team-building.
