ACTON -- The second annual SpinRaiser, held April 8 and sponsored by The
Fitness Group (TFG) at Quail Ridge in Acton, was an at-capacity
success, and raised more than $3,500 toward Household Goods' mission of
helping people make a home.

For the second year, Sue Barron, TFG’s top-notch instructor, led the
group on a high-energy, motivating and energizing 90-minute spinning
routine. An inspirational playlist of songs about house and home --
including "My House," "Going Home" and "Welcome to My House" -- was a
constant reminder to participants about why they were spinning. Many
also brought donations of sheets and towels, flatware, lamps, and other
household items.

Participants included beginner to expert spinners, those returning from
the 2016 event and new participants, including a group of spinners from
BAE Systems, Lexington.

Says TFG’s Barron, "We had so much fun last year hosting the event that
couldn't wait to hold the event again this year. Household Goods
provides a critical service in the community, and they are just down the
street from us. We were thrilled we were able to take something we love
doing and use it to help our neighbors."

Sharon Martens, Household Goods executive director, added, "We’re so
thankful to The Fitness Group for sponsoring this unique event again.
Not only did it raise always-needed funds, but it served to increase
awareness about our organization. This is critical, as we rely on the
local community to help us help 2,500 families make a home every year."

It wasn't all hard work and sweat for the participants, though, as they
enjoyed coffee and bakery treats donated by Concord Teacakes, as well as
gift bags and raffle prizes donated by Carol Tocci of Barrett
Sotheby's, Concord, Rapscallion Table & Tap, Quail Ridge, and Tricia
Deck.
