Smoke Fills Lobby, Detectors Fail to Sound
A lobby fire at 289 Great Road seems to have caused no injuries or structural damage.
Around 4:20 p.m., Acton police and fire received a report of smoke coming from the lobby of 289 Great Road. According to Darlene Button, employee at , of 289 Great Road, none of the smoke detectors in the building went off.
“Nobody called the fire department so I called 911 - I don't think anyone knew about it,” said Button. “Once the fire department was aware of this they were here immediately.”
According to Button, no one was injured and she did not see fire, just smoke.

“I went to each floor and told everyone that they need to evacuate the building,” said Button.
The Acton fire department was unable to comment on the cause of the fire or why the smoke detectors did not go off.
