St. George & the Dragon to Be Performed by FPC Children & Youth
First Parish Church's children and youth will perform "St. George & the Dragon," a traditional mummer's play, on Sunday, Dec. 20.

Each year the children and youth of First Parish Church (FPC) in Stow perform “St. George & the Dragon,” a traditional mummer’s play. Its story of a brave hero who dies and comes back to life is seen by many as a celebration of the winter solstice, one that features a colorful cast of characters that includes St. George, a dragon, a two-headed giant, a quack doctor, Father Christmas, and a half dozen sword dancers, to name just a few. This year, the play will be performed on Sunday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. as part of FPC’s second service.
Under the direction of Pat Sorn, children and youth will perform as actors, sword dancers, and singers. Participants include Acton’s Lucie Brunelle, Luke Droese, Sheena Grabarek, Alex MacNeill, Elsa MacNeill, Cormac Nagle, and Dervla Nagle; Bolton’s Demetri Boermeester, Lela Boermeester, and Henry Gordon-Ozaydin; Clinton’s Faye Cordone, Jack Sullivan, and Katie Sullivan; Hudson’s Anna Ruminski; Marlborough’s Mackenzie Brennen; Maynard’s Danielle Chetwynd, James Chetwynd, Elizabeth Freeman, C.J. Ledwell, Reagan Murray, Esme O’Brien, and Ollie Raskin; and Stow’s Cam Braun, Maggie Braun, Evan Daisy, Benji Edgerton, Duncan Edgerton, Nathan Haberle, Caleb Hatlevig, Ruby Hatlevig, and Masha Schmitt.
Worship will be led by Minister Tom Rosiello, Intern Minister Ilene Gillispie, and Director of Religious Education Michelle Coté, with music provided by Music Director Mike Pfitzer and Organist/Pianist Sanghee Kim. FPC is located at 353 Great Road in Stow MA (at the intersection of Rts. 117 and 62). FPC’s facilities are wheelchair accessible.
