Suspicious Luggage on Fitchburg/South Acton Train Turns Out to be Someone’s Luggage
A Wednesday morning delay on the Fitchburg/South Acton commuter rail line occurred because someone reported a suspicious bag.
According to Lewis Best, Deputy Chief of Police for the MBTA, the unattended luggage that was reported as a suspicious bag on the Fitchburg/South Acton train (418), which was supposed to leave Fitchburg at 10:27 a.m., Wednesday, turned out to be just someone’s left behind luggage.
The MBTA notified Fitchburg Police who were immediately on scene to assess the situation. According to Best, the Fitchburg Police were able to make contact with the owner of the luggage.
The situation caused a morning cancellation for the Fitchburg/South Acton commuter rail line, though another train left the station approximately 17 minutes later.
