TOWN OF ACTON HEALTH DEPT - HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY

The Acton Health Department is pleased to announce that they will hold their Fall Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 9-11:30 AM

A list of items that are acceptable can be obtained on the Town of Acton website www.acton-ma.gov/health.  Please note that this collection is for Acton residents only and proof of residency is required.  We no longer accept the following:

1.  Medications - These can be dropped off at the Public Safety Building- 371 Main Street, Acton,  They must be in their original container (black out personal information) and can be placed in the bin located in the front foyer, 24 hours per day.
2. Sharps - These can be dropped off at the Town Hall-472 Main St, Acton and placed in the red kiosk labeled sharps located in the left foyer during regular business hours.  
3. Latex Paint - Can be disposed of in trash once dry.  To dry small amounts pop lid and let paint dry in can.  For larger amounts mix in kitty litter and stir occasionally to speed drying.  Once dry throw away.
4. Alkaline Batteries - Alkaline batteries are now made without lead or mercury and can be safely thrown in the trash.  For more information please read the side of the battery.
