ACTON -- The biggest donation week of the year is coming up for
Household Goods, and the group needs help from current and new
volunteers.

The Boston College graduation is Monday, May 22. On that day, and in the
week leading up, thousands of BC students will be moving out of their
dorms and leaving behind usable household goods, including lamps,
microwaves, coffee makers, vacuums, sheets, towels, blankets and more
for the Acton-based organization that helps people in need make a
home.

The items from BC are critical to keeping Household Goods stocked with
the essential items that families need to set up their homes for months
to come. Help from volunteers during this time is crucial to making the
collection a reality and a success.

Volunteers are needed to:

-- Collect and load donations on the BC campus in Chestnut Hill from May 14-23 -- but especially May 22, graduation day.

-- Unload the trucks coming back from BC at the Household Goods facility, at 530 Main St. in Acton, from May 15-23.

-- Sort , clean and process donations from May 15-26.

Most items that Household Goods collects at BC are small, such as lamps,
microwaves or linens, but there may be an occasional piece of furniture
or TV. Everything is coming out of dorm rooms, so most items are
light.

People who can count the items and sort the goods are needed, too. Volunteers don't need to be "heavy lifters" to participate.

Please consider volunteering; no experience is necessary. To sign up,
call Household Goods' volunteer coordinators at 978-635-1710, ext. 6, or
email volunteer@householdgoods.org.
