
The days of Mad Men work attire are over.
"People in today's work environment are not required to wear suits - most people wear polo shirts to work," said Kristin Murphy, owner of the former . "Basically it's the economy. It's the reduction of consumption by the consumers and the cost of doing business is much greater than it used to be."
Murphy is right, the dry cleaning game isn't what it used to be; it has dramatically changed since the days of having route drivers pick up and deliver your clothes - as Murphy explained was Duds business model in the 1940's/50's.

Duds was started in Ayer by Murphy's grandmother, Ester Munro, basically to accommodate the U.S. Military with blankets. Duds came to 295 Main Street, Acton in 1961 and the family business grew to 11 stores throughout Massachusetts at one point. at the end of April, 2012.
"I'm going to miss our customers the most," said Murphy. "I believe that in life whenever a door closes another opens."
