Woman Air Lifted After Pedestrian Crash on Central Street: Police

Witnesses told police that the woman ran directly towards the van before going up onto the hood of the vehicle.

ACTON, MA—An unidentified woman was air lifted to Boston Medical Center with a head injury after colliding with a van on Central Street in Acton Wednesday.

In an email to reporters, Acton Deputy Police Chief Richard Burrows stated that at 12:47 p.m., officers responded to a report of a pedestrian accident on Central Street near Fire Station No. 3, and observed a middle-aged woman unresponsive but breathing. Witnesses and the driver of the minivan involved in the accident told Police that the woman ran directly towards the van before going up on the hood and rolling off onto the pavement.

Burrows added that there were no skid marks on the road as the van was already slowing down, and that the female operator of the van was not injured.

Officers are still attempting to determine the identity of the woman, and Boxborough Police are assisting with accident reconstruction.
