Andover Loses $200K From State Budget Vetoes

Here is where that money was going around town.

ANDOVER, MA — Some of Gov. Charlie's Bakers spending cuts to the FY18 state budget would impact Andover if they go through. Baker, a Republican, vetoed $200,000 from the budget that was earmarked for Andover, according to the office of Office of State Senator Barbara L’Italien. The cuts include:

  • Historic Mill District: $100,000 for improvements and economic development
  • Greater Lawrence Technical School: $100,000

"It’s frustrating, but I can’t say I’m surprised," said State L’Italien, who represents Andover, Tewksbury, Lawrence, and Dracut, in a statement. She also said she'll "be working hard" to restore the cuts.
