Andover Nanny Sentenced To 15 Months In Prison For Stealing $113,000 From Employer
Stacy Fortunato made more than 800 unauthorized transactions with her employer's credit card and checking account, then tried to cover it up

ANDOVER, MA -- A federal court judge in Andover sentenced an Andover woman to 15 months in prison and ordered to pay restitution of $112,806 for orchestrating a credit card scheme to steal from her employer. Stacy Fortunato, 36, who was also sentenced to three years of supervised release, pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud and one count of wire fraud in June.
Between November 2014 and February 2016, Fortunato was given a credit card to use in her job as a nanny. The card was to have been used for work-related expenses, but Fortunato used the card to make unauthorized pruchases and cash withdrawals totaling more than $86,000. She also forged her employer's signature on checks she wrote checks from her employer's bank account.

In an attempt to cover up the credit card charges, Fortunato made unauthorized electronic payments from her employer’s bank account to her employer’s credit card account. The U.S. Attorney's office said she ultimately made 800 unauthorized transactions and stole about $113,000 from her employer.
