Massive Lawrence Fire: 30 Homeless

A woman was rescued and a firefighter was hurt in a three-alarm fire in Lawrence on East Haverhill Street Tuesday.

LAWRENCE, MA — A woman was rescued in a massive fire at a Lawrence apartment building Tuesday that left dozens homeless. The blaze broke out at about 1 p.m. at 111 East Haverhill St. A firefighter reportedly suffered minor injuries.

Flames shot out the second and third floors of the building, which is a duplex-style, multi-unit dwelling. Firefighters from Andover, North Andover, and several surrounding communities responded to the scene to battle the flames.

A woman who lives in the building was trapped by the flames on an upper floor and rescued by firefighters, according to WHDH. That woman and a firefighter were hospitalized with minor injuries.
