Andover Police Save Man Suffering Heart Attack

Andover Police Officers Joseph Magliozzi and Owen Fitzpatrick were responding to a March 21 call of a man who had collapsed while walking.

ANDOVER, MA -- Andover Police Officers Joseph Magliozzi and Owen Fitzpatrick are being credited with saving a man's month last month. The two were able to administer CPR and use an external defibrilator on a man who collapsed while walking on North Maine Street on March 21.

The two officers were responding to a call of a man who had collapsed. When they arrived, they saw by-passers administering CPR to the man. Magliozzi took over and used his defibrillator to give two shocks to the man and continued CPR. When Fitzpatrick arrived, he and responders from the Andover Fire Department helped to continue administering CPR.

Andover Police did not release the victim's name in a social media post Monday commending the officers. They said the victim was a 58-year-old local business owner and the son of a retired Andover Police officer. He was transported to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
