Andover Releases Large Debris Collection Details Following Storm
The town said that cleaning up the debris created by Friday's storm may take several weeks.

ANDOVER, MA — The town's Public Works Department was continuing to respond to damage caused by Friday's storm as of Monday. The department's effort "has prioritized removing downed trees and debris from roads and sidewalks to ensure that all public ways are passable," according to a statement from the town.
Sometimes this effort included pushing large debris onto lawns or the side of the road.
The town said that the debris will be collected "as soon as possible" and collection began Wednesday. Large debris left on a property as a result of being pushed to the side of the road is not required to be bundled.

"The Town of Andover is committed to providing assistance to residents in clearing branches and tree debris left on their property from the storm," the statement reads. "Additional Town resources will be dedicated to this in the coming days as the process to clear public ways nears completion."
Branches, limbs, and tree debris will be collected from the curbside either by Department of Public Works crews or by additional Republic Services trucks deployed at the town’s request.

Material placed at curbside for collection needs to meet regulations that apply to branches collected during regular weekly trash pick-up with the exception of the number of bundles placed, the town noted.
"Due to the significant volume of downed branches on properties across town, collection of this material may take several weeks," the statement reads. "We appreciate the patience of Andover residents as we continue to recover from this unexpected and severe weather event."
The town has opened two sites for residents to deposit tree debris relate to the storm. The Bald Hill Compost Site at 288 High Plain Road and the Pomps Pond parking lot 147 Abbot Street will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily.
Curbside collection and public drop-off sites should not be used to discard general yard waste not related to the storm.
