Andover Reports Coronavirus Case At Juneteenth Event

One attendee, who had no symptoms and wore a face covering, has tested positive for the virus, the town said.

ANDOVER, MA — An attendee of Andover's Juneteenth event tested positive for the coronavirus, the town said Saturday.

The attendee did not have symptoms and was wearing a face covering, but the town Health Division is recommending that attendees get tested for the virus.

The event, part a celebration and part a protest, took place at Doherty Field behind the town offices, on June 19. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Tex. with federal orders proclaiming the abolition of slavery.
