In conjunction with its "Through the Garden Gate" tour, the Andover Garden Club is holding a Green Elephant sale, offering perennial plants and herbs; gardening supplies; gently used gardening tools; indoor and outdoor containers; and a few unexpected treasures. The sale will be held at 197 Haggetts Pond Road in Andover. Tickets aren't required for the sale, but they will be available for purchase, should shoppers wish to extend their outing by visiting several lovely private gardens. The tour runs from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM, but the sale opens at 9:00&nbsp;AM.

On Saturday, June 6, the Andover Garden Club will present “Through the Garden Gate,” a tour of seven beautiful private gardens in Andover—plus a couple of extras. The properties on the tour include two historic home sites, a pollinator paradise, and a clever solution to a challenging sloped yard.
The tour, to take place rain or shine, will run from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Tickets cost $35 in advance or $40 on the day of the tour. Tickets may be purchased online at <a href="https://www.andovergardenclub.org/2026-garden-tour" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.andovergardenclub.org/2026-garden-tour</a>.
On tour day, attendees should present their email confirmation at either 31 Lowell Street or 10 Alonesos Way, both stops on the tour, to obtain their tour booklet, including map. Tickets may also be purchased at these sites by check or credit card.
Tour Extras—Shopping and a Bonus Garden
In conjunction with the tour, the Andover Garden Club is holding a Green Elephant sale, offering perennial plants and herbs; gardening supplies; gently used gardening tools; indoor and outdoor containers; and a few unexpected treasures. The sale will be held at 197 Haggetts Pond Road. While no ticket is required for the sale, tour tickets will be available there for purchase.
People are invited to extend the tour by visiting Henderson Garden, located at the junction of River Road and Chandler Road. The club created the garden in the early 2000s and tends it to this day.

Hear the fascinating story of a rare valuables chest from 1677 Andover that remained in the Horne/Ballard families almost uninterrupted for over 300 years. Described by Sotheby's as being of "profound importance to the study of American material culture", the cabinet is one of five known surviving examples made by the Symonds shop of Salem. Initially estimated to have a value of $600,000 to $800,000, it sold in January at auction for $1.6 M. The other four examples are in the Winterthur Museum, the Peabody Essex Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.&nbsp;
&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The presentation will include a history of the Horne/Ballard cabinet and the generations of Andover descendants who cared for it, a comparative review of all five cabinets assigned to the Symonds Woodworking Shop and a demonstration of the tools and techniques used in 17th century New England wood working.

Live this local history with a panel discussion led by North Andover Town Moderator Mark DiSalvo and audience participation in a town meeting setting as if it were 1776.
