Dan Koh 'Hasn't Decided' Whether To Run Again For Congress

Koh, now an Andover Selectman, filed a statement of organization, but said it is "purely administrative" based on a personnel change.

ANDOVER, MA — Andover Selectman Dan Koh said he is undecided if he will run again for congress, this cycle. Last week, he filed a campaign committee statement of organization, but he said Monday that the filing was purely administrative, and does not indicate a rematch is in the works, yet. In 2018, Dan Koh lost the Democratic primary for the Massachusetts 3rd Congressional District to eventual winner Lori Trahan by fewer than 200 votes.

The filing is dated Friday, Jan. 24. Koh explained that the filing was required because he has a new campaign treasurer.

The 3rd District includes Andover and much of the Merrimack Valley including Lowell, Lawrence and Haverhill. Trahan and Koh were the top two candidates in a crowded primary, each earning just over 20 percent. After the narrow primary win, Trahan won with over 60 percent in the general election. Trahan is a businesswoman and was chief of staff to former Congressman Marty Meehan. Koh is the former chief of staff to Boston Mayor Martin Walsh.

Following the congressional race, Koh ran for, and won, a seat on the Andover Select Board, in March, 2019.

Trahan already has an active campaign committee for 2020, with over $1 million in the campaign's coffers.
