Infant Dies Of Injuries Suffered In Andover I-495 Single-Car Accident

A 1-year-old girl from Nashua, NH who was injured in a crash last week has died. A fundraiser has been started to support the family.

ANDOVER, MA — A 1-year-old injured in a crash on I-495 in Andover on Friday morning has died, according to the Essex County District Attorney's Office.

The DA's office said that "given that it is a juvenile, no additional information is being released at this time."

The single-car accident was reported at about 3:40 a.m. on I-495 Friday.

A 2017 Toyota Camry went into the grass median, continued north, then descended an embankment and hit a tree, according to state police.

The infant was transported to Lawrence General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was then transported by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital.

The driver was transported to Lawrence General Hospital for treatment of injuries. Both the infant and the woman are from Nashua, NH.

On Wednesday, state police said that "The investigation to determine whether the operator of the Camry will face criminal charges is ongoing."

The victim's family has started a fundraiser. Maria Campos, younger sister of driver April Campos, wrote the following on GoFundMe:

"Hi my name is Maria Campos. My oldest sister April Campos that lives in New Hampshire suffered a horrific car accident on thanksgiving weekend causing her 2 broken ribs and broken knee, sadly my niece Valentina Grace passed away due to injuries from the car accident. Our family is truly destroyed and deeply saddened. I ask for any donations towards funeral Arrangements and expenses to place Gracie in a comfortable setting. Anything donated is truly appreciated and thankful."
