Infant Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries In Andover I-495 Crash

A driver and 1-year-old child, both from Nashua, NH, were injured in an early Friday morning accident.

ANDOVER, MA — A 1 -year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash on I-495 in Andover early Friday morning, according to state police.

Massachusetts State Police troopers, the Andover Fire Department, and EMS crews responded to a single-car crash in which the driver lost control at about 3:40 a.m. on I-495.

A 2017 Toyota Camry went into the grass median, continued north, then descended an embankment and hit a tree, according to state police.

The infant was transported to Lawrence General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was then transported by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital.

The driver, a 33-year-old woman, was transported to Lawrence General Hospital with minor injuries. The woman and the infant are both from Nashua, NH.

Troopers are investigating driver distraction as a potential cause of the crash, according to state police.
