Lawrence High School Locked Down, Dismissed Following Threat
The internet threat came the same day as a major gas leak forced 150 homes and businesses to evacuate in Lawrence.
LAWRENCE, MA — Lawrence High School was locked down and dismissed following an anonymous threat of a potential school shooting Friday, police said. "Out of an abundance of caution there will be a controlled dismissal of the campus," the department said on Facebook.
The calls about a potential shooter or injuries were "unfounded," Lawrence Mayor Dan Rivera said, NBC10 reported..
"The safety of the Lawrence Public Schools is always a paramount concern for both the Lawrence Police and the Lawrence School Department," the police Facebook post continued.

"All students are safe at this time and being transported home by bus. There will be no afterschool sports or activities," the school district said in a Twitter post.
They continued: "Students who are impacted by this morning’s gas leak and evacuation in South Lawrence will be transported to an alternate site which we will share with those families.

Again, police are on site and students are safe, but as a precautionary measure all students are being dismissed. Please be aware the campus will be closed off during this time so we can conduct a safe, orderly dismissal process. Thank you."
Earlier Friday morning, a major gas leak had forced the evacuation of part of the city and shut down Weatherbee School and Lawrence Catholic Academy for the day.
